After reading this post, you'll know exactly what you need to make a unique Christmas card!

How many cards have you received through out your life? Hundreds? Thousands? How many of them have you saved? I have a special box with memories where I keep all the cards from loved ones, tickets from movies and theater shows, and other little things that remind me of someone or something special in my life.

Nowadays, it's very convenient to buy a bunch of cards at a store and just send them to all the friends and relatives. There is even no need to sign them - most of them already have pre-printed warm wishes and poems. But, guess what? - that’s exactly why people value personalization now, as never before.

Guess what cards made it to my memory box? Yes, the ones that have personal value, the ones that were personally signed just for me, the ones that have warm wishes and words that only two of us would understand... the cards, that not a single printer in the world can produce.

Guess what cards I have on my refrigerator? Yep... the ones with photos.

Making a card of your dreams is easier than you think! Instead of spending your money on a card that will most likely end up in a trash can, invest them in a card that will be kept forever and remind the receiver about you.

Are you ready to create your perfect, thoughtful, personalized Christmas card for your loved ones? Let's do it!

1) The first step - create your portrait. Whether it’s just you or your whole family, the card with your picture will certainly get on one’s refrigerator/shelf/collage/album. The photo should reflect your family atmosphere. Is your family classy and serious? Make a nice, traditional portrait! Are you a funny family that always laughs and makes jokes? That should be captured!

It's NOT necessary, but beautiful holyday-themed background will add a special mood for your photos. Take pictures next to your Christmas tree, at a Christmas tree farm, with Santa Claus or just in holiday outfits to spice-up your card.

2) The second step is to choose a card design. It's easy, if you order cards from your photographer - he/she will design them for you. If you decide to do everything by yourself, choose the design that matches your photos. Pay attention to the colors - your picture(s) should be the focus point of your card, you don't want it to "disappear" in the background. However, you also don't want it to be "out of theme". I highly recommend to choose 3 main colors (for example: blue, gold, and white) and make them colors dominant in both the card design and the photo(s). You can also play with contrast - colorful photos will pop-up on classy and simple white card.

3) The Next step is to print your cards. Once again, ordering through your photographer takes care of all of that. If you choose the lab on your own, please, do not make your decision based on the price. Often, prints that are made in a one-day lab fade out in a year or two and would be absolutely unrecognizable in 5-10 years. Remember, this is meant to be a memory gift that your loved-ones will cherish for decades - and a good quality print will take care of that.

4) Last, but not the least - WRITE something on your card. Don't just send it with a common holiday quote, your initials and date. If you are sending your personalized card to someone, it means that person is special to you. People who are important part of your life deserve a cople of kind words, don’t they?

Not sure what to write? Here's some ideas:

▪️year events (funny/important memories that happened between you and the card receiver)

▪️awards (share with them what you/your family archived this year)

▪️wishes (be specific! Does he/she hate their job? Wish them a new job that will be enjoyable and fullfilling. Are they dreaming of a new car? Wish them a new red Mercedes in the near future (color and make of their preference, of course). Did they start a new business? Wish them the best of luck in their new endeavor)

▪️thanks (think of something nice that that person did for you - maybe they taught you something or inspired you? Don't forget to mention the details)

▪️hopes (are you sending this card to another city/state/country? Write about how much they are missed and how you are looking forward seeing them next summer)

▪️if you have children - let them write something too. If they are to little, give them a colorful pencil - they'll draw a beautiful art just for the card receiver

▪️add anything that is known for just two of you (an inspirational quote, a couple of lines from the song you have always listened to together, something from the book they suggested for you to read)

✅ You are done! It was not that difficult, right? Remember, you didn't just send your loved ones a card, but gave them a piece of art, that was created just for them by someone special to them!

Hope you'll have a wonderful holiday season and get lots of cards and love!
